Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: Twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack woke up to a blanket of thick fog engulfing them. Some places of the cities experienced such heavy fogging that visibility was sorely affected. The visibility was reduced to less than 50 meters. As a result of this, road transport has been rendered very difficult.
The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a yellow warning for dense fog in 14 districts of Odisha.
The districts are Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal and Keonjhar and at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Bolangir, Bhadrak and Sundargarh.
Dense fog alert is also sounded for four districts on Wednesday i.e. Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara.
Meanwhile, on Monday, the night temperatures in Jharsuguda and Rourkela were the lowest at 8°C. In other areas, the temperatures were as follows: 9.5°C in Phulbani, 9.8°C in Sundargarh, 11.2°C in Keonjhar, 12.5°C in Daringbadi, 13.4°C in Bhawanipatna, 13.5°C in Koraput, 14°C in Bolangir, 14.1°C in Sonepur and Hirakud, 14.2°C in Bhadrak, 14.4°C in Nuapada, 14.5°C in Nabarangpur, and 14.8°C in Balasore.
The highest night temperature was recorded in Puri at 19.6°C. In Gopalpur and Paradip, it was 19.1°C, 19°C in Chhatrapur, and 18.6°C in Bhubaneswar.
