Islamabad, May 1: With the tension mounting over the Pahalgam terrorist attack in J&K India, Pakistan has curbed air services in the Karachi and Lahore airspaces.
It has been decided citing security concern, said media reports.
The Pak authorities have announced the closure of specific portions of the Karachi and Lahore airspaces, that to with operation of limited flights during a scheduled time.
The announcement by the Pak aviation authorities comes amid heightened tension between Pakistan and Islamabad, post the Pahalgam terror attack and Islamabad’s apprehension of retaliatory action by India.
“The restricted airspace will remain closed daily from 4:00 am to 8:00 am local time between May 1 and May 31,” said media reports.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said the closure will not significantly disrupt commercial flight operations, as aircraft will be rerouted via alternative flight paths during the restricted hours, it said.
According to sources, the restrictions will be clamped at least for a month, for further notice.
