Balakati,June 28: As Raja festivities sweep across Odisha, the serene banks of the Bhargavi River at Rathijema near Balakati on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar have transformed into a vibrant centre of celebration, drawing thousands of visitors every evening.
Amid colourful decorations, traditional swings and cultural performances, people from all sections of society are gathering to celebrate Raja, the state's iconic agrarian festival that marks the arrival of womanhood, fertility and the onset of the monsoon season. Young girls, newly married women, children and elderly residents are all taking part in the festivities, keeping alive a tradition deeply rooted in Odisha's cultural heritage.
