Surat-Bilimora bullet train section set for 2027 launch: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Surat, September 27: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that the Surat to Bilimora section of the Bullet Train project will be operational by 2027. This will mark the first segment of India’s high-speed rail network to be launched. Vaishnaw, who recently toured the construction site, highlighted the significant technological advancements being implemented along the route.

"The Surat-Bilimora section will be the first to go live in 2027," said Vaishnaw. "I’ve reviewed the progress at the station and track-laying site, and I’m impressed with the pace. We’ve integrated cutting-edge technologies into the trackwork, which will not only benefit this project but also set a benchmark for future rail developments across the country."

The Surat Station will be a key feature of the project, with a distinctive design that includes two tracks on either side and two in the center, ensuring smooth and efficient operations. "The station will serve as a central hub, where all trains will stop. There will be a large concourse at the center, and the high-speed rail turnouts have been designed to accommodate speeds of 320-340 km/h. This design ensures seamless connections without any gaps, facilitating smooth transitions," Vaishnaw explained.

The station will also prioritize passenger experience, with a focus on comfort and convenience. Natural light will flood the interiors thanks to skylights, while well-ventilated platforms will maintain a calm and welcoming atmosphere. Essential amenities such as waiting lounges, nurseries, restrooms, and retail outlets will be available, ensuring a pleasant journey for all travelers.

Accessibility is another key aspect of the station's design. It will feature multiple lifts and escalators to accommodate elderly passengers, differently-abled individuals, and families with children. Clear signage, information kiosks, and a public announcement system will be installed to aid easy navigation.

In addition, Surat Station will be seamlessly connected to other modes of transportation, ensuring smooth travel within the city. These developments promise to position Surat as a central hub in India’s rapidly expanding high-speed rail network, fostering significant growth and connectivity.
