Binika, Jul 8: In a compassionate gesture, Subarnapur Collector Dr. Nrupa Raj Sahu visited an elderly woman at her residence in Banjipali village under Binika block and assured her of immediate government assistance after learning about her plight.

The beneficiary, Pramodini Hota, has reportedly been suffering from prolonged illness and has been unable to walk for several years. She was living alone in a dilapidated house with little support, relying on the kindness of others for survival.

After receiving information about her condition, the District Collector personally visited her home to assess the situation. During the visit, he assured her of a monthly pension of ₹1,000, the supply of 25 kg of rice under the public distribution system, medical assistance, and other benefits available under various government welfare schemes.

The Collector also promised that she would be provided a permanent house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to ensure safe and dignified living conditions.

The Collector's visit and assurance of comprehensive support brought a smile to the elderly woman's face. Local residents appreciated the district administration's prompt response and praised the Collector for personally reaching out to help a vulnerable citizen.
