Odisha Student Union Elections 2026: Campaigning Intensifies Ahead of October 15 Polls

Bhubaneswar, October 12: As the college student union elections are just two days away and scheduled for October 15, campaigning has gained momentum across colleges and universities in Odisha. The candidates are making last-minute efforts to secure support ahead of polling.

Several prominent institutions, including Utkal University, Rama Devi Women’s University, BJB Autonomous College, Ravenshaw University, Fakir Mohan University, Berhampur University, Sambalpur University, and PN Autonomous College, Khurdha, have seen a surge in campaign activity as candidates reach out to fellow students.

Posters and banners featuring candidates and their agendas have appeared across campuses, while social media platforms have become a key tool for publicising campaign promises and engaging student voters. Candidates and their supporters are stepping up outreach efforts as the campaign enters its final stretch.

Candidates will get another opportunity to present their views and explain their reasons for contesting at the ‘Why I Stand For’ meeting scheduled for October 14, a day before polling. The programme is expected to provide a platform for candidates to outline their priorities, share their vision and interact with the student electorate.

Meanwhile, reports of clashes between rival groups and tension on some campuses have raised concerns over law and order during the election campaign. The incidents have highlighted the importance of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the run-up to polling and ensuring that the electoral process proceeds without disruption.

With the elections just days away, candidates are intensifying their efforts to win over voters, while campus authorities face the challenge of ensuring a peaceful, fair and orderly election process.
