A wave of relief for the Samsung Electronics factory near Chennai as over 1,000 workers, who had been on strike for 37 days, have finally returned to their duties. This development comes after a successful resolution brokered by the Tamil Nadu Labour Department, bringing an end to the standoff.
The strike began on September 9th, over wages, working conditions, and the recognition of their union. For over a month, these employees, responsible for manufacturing refrigerators, televisions, and washing machines, stood their ground, demanding a fair hearing and improved conditions. The management has also pledged not to take any action against the workers for their participation in the strike. Furthermore, Samsung has promised a written response to the workers' charter of demands, which were raised and reasons for the strike.
