Bhubaneswar, August 14: In a bid to break the backbone of an inter-state drug syndicate, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Crime Branch has intensified its crackdown, with raids sweeping across Odisha over the past two days. Acting on directives from the state government, the STF is working in tandem with police teams from other states to dismantle networks trafficking marijuana and synthetic drugs.

The coordinated drive, spearheaded by district Superintendents of Police under the guidance of the Director General of Police (DGP) and DGP Crime, has seen plainclothes officers positioned in markets, commercial hubs, and slum areas to monitor suspects and collect critical intelligence.

STF Superintendent of Police Ravi Satapathy revealed that the current raids form part of a special anti-narcotics initiative that has been underway for the past 15 days. The STF is collaborating closely with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) to counter the growing drug menace in the state.

Authorities say the mission’s primary focus is to disrupt the supply chain and expose the masterminds operating behind the scenes.
