Angul, May 29: A person was killed and another sustained critical injuries after a speeding truck rammed into a motorcycle near Burukuna Chhak under Kaniha block in Angul district on Friday.

According to reports, the accident was so severe that the truck dragged the motorcycle for some distance after hitting it. Moments later, the bike caught fire, leaving the rider burnt alive on the spot.

The other person travelling on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was initially admitted to Khamar hospital. As his condition worsened, he was later shifted to Cuttack for advanced treatment.

After the accident, the truck driver fled from the spot along with the vehicle. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.

The identities of the deceased and the injured person are yet to be established.
