Bhubaneswar, June 18: The Odisha government on Thursday suspended senior IPS officer Dayal Gangwar in connection with the high-profile death case of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain.
Chief MinisterMohan Charan Majhi ordered the suspension after allegations of mental harassment were levelled against Gangwar by Soumya’s family. The officer had earlier been transferred and posted as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Home Department.
Soumya’s parents alleged that their son faced harassment while working under Gangwar, including being asked to provide personal services. The allegations intensified public demand for action in the case.
The suspension comes as the Crime Branch continues its investigation into the Balianta- GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain's death case, which has remained under intense public and administrative scrutiny.
