Bhubaneswar: No stopping for the lion king of Bollywood Ajay Devgn. Singham Again is roaring all the way in B’wood. The Ajay Devgn starred Copverse movie has grossed Rs 103.2 cr in India on Day 2, though the India net collection (after tax) is estimated at 88 cr. The Rohit Shetty movie grossed 125 cr worldwide. The film is all set to cross the 100 cr net India collection tonight.
Facing competition from Kartik Aryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Singham Again is strutting ahead of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, as the Anees Bazmi helmed movies has grossed 87 crore in India and the world wide gross is estimated at 107 cr. The comic-horror show of Anees Bazmi flick BB3 has net India collection at 72.5 cr in two days. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 will also cross 100 cr net in India tonight.
Both the film is doing solid business in theatres. While Singham Again is having blockbuster collection from single theatres, as well as national chains, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is seemingly strong in national chains. The occupancy of Kartik Aryan BB3 at national chains remains higher than Singham.
REAL TEST LIES FROM MONDAY – THURSDAY
With the Diwali holidays led extended weekend coming to end today, Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 faces the real test from Monday to Thursday.
The collections for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 from Monday to Thursday need to be watched as the film is drawing good collection from national chains. Singham Again also faces Monday –Thursday test, despite it running with roaring success in single screen theatres.
SINGHAM AGAIN - COP UNIVERSE
Rohit Shetty’s love for cop star flashed on to the screen in Ajay Devgn fronted ‘Singham’ that roared at the box office with a net collection of Rs 100 crore. The super success has enthused Rohit Shetty to lay the foundation of Copverse, and he piloted ‘Singham Returns’ in 2014.
The Singham Returns was a blockbuster from Day 1. The Rohit Shetty film grossed 112 cr in 2014 in the first week itself, when Singham grossed 51 cr in the week number 1. The blockbuster shows bolstered Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe idea.
And the realization came true when Rohit released Simmba. Ranveer Singh starred ‘Simmba’ was a big surprise hit in Bollywood in year 2018. The Rohit-Ranveer helmed film Simmba grossed a life time collection of Rs 240cr.
The super success of Simmba saw Rohit coming with another cop show this time with Akshay Kumar. ‘Sooryavanshi’ smashed it out at the box office in 2021. Despite the pandemic wave in 2020 and 2021, the Akki starred film grossed 196 cr. The string of super successes had brought the arc light on the solid potential of Cop Universe. The audiences simply had gone gaga over the Rohit Shetty’s larger-than-life cinema and superman cops.
In that Copverse series show, Singham Again joins this Diwali uniting all the superman cops of Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe.
