Security personnel neutralised two terrorists during an intense late-night gunfight in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. Security personnel successfully neutralised the threat despite facing severe weather conditions, steep terrain, and limited visibility throughout the night. Officials recovered the bodies of both militants early Thursday morning. Authorities suspect the deceased individuals are foreign nationals linked to the Kashmir Tigers, a recognised proxy organization of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad. Search teams also seized significant quantities of arms and ammunition directly from the encounter site.
Combing operations continue across the sector as additional troops arrive to secure the perimeter and locate any remaining militants who might be hiding. This latest confrontation follows an established pattern of recent anti-terror operations in the Majalta region, where forces eliminated two suspected JeM operatives earlier this year in February. Furthermore, the Udhampur clash occurred just days after a separate September 5 encounter in the Budgam district. During that specific incident, forces tracked and killed a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander named Yasir. The commander previously belonged to the Sulaiman Musa faction but had operated independently in the Yousmarg area before his death.
