Cricketer Yash Dayal Faces Second Sexual Abuse Complaint, This Time Involving a Minor
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) cricketer Yash Dayal is facing a deepening legal crisis as a second First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against him, this time for the alleged repeated rape of a minor in Jaipur. This new case, filed just weeks after a separate complaint of sexual exploitation in Ghaziabad, has intensified the scrutiny on the 27-year-old fast bowler.
The Jaipur Allegations
The latest FIR was registered in Jaipur on Wednesday under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 64 of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which carries a minimum sentence of 10 years. The complainant, now 19, is an aspiring cricketer who alleges she first met Dayal two years ago.
According to the complaint, the first assault occurred in 2023 when she was 17. She claims Dayal had offered to help her with her cricket career. The FIR further alleges that Dayal assaulted her again in April of this year at a Jaipur hotel while he was in the city for an Indian Premier League (IPL) match. Police have begun their investigation and are in the process of recording the complainant's detailed statement.
Pattern of Complaints
This case follows a separate FIR filed against Dayal in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on July 6. In that instance, a woman who claimed to have been in a five-year relationship with the cricketer accused him of "emotionally, mentally and physically" exploiting her under the promise of marriage. While the Allahabad High Court granted a stay on Dayal's arrest in the Ghaziabad case, the new allegations from Jaipur present a fresh and more severe legal challenge, particularly due to the involvement of the POCSO Act.
Investigation Underway
Jaipur police have confirmed the registration of the case and are proceeding with the investigation. The back-to-back allegations from two different states have cast a dark shadow over the cricketer's career. While the legal process in both cases is still in its early stages, the gravity of the charges has put Yash Dayal's future in the sport under a cloud of uncertainty.
In the end, the emergence of a second, independent complaint has created a serious and troubling pattern. The legal proceedings in the coming weeks will be critical in determining the facts of these allegations and will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the career and reputation of the RCB player.
