Bhubaneswar, June 10: A group of women and Lady IIC of the Infocity Police Station, in Bhubaneswar confronted on Tuesday over a Kitty Fund scam.
The ACP had to handle the situation as the altercation took a violent turn in the evening when the irate public vandalized properties of the Police Station and manhandled the cops.
According to report, a tension flared in the afternoon as Alasua villagers protested against one Ajay Barik who allegedly defrauded locals through a Kity fund scam. They demanded justice and fund recovery after their complaint was loged with the police.
Acting on it, the police registered a case, arrested the fraudster and sent him to judicial remands. Following this, tensions escalated sharply and disgruntled residents stormed the police station demanding recovery of their funds.
On being informed of the law & order situation, ACP Sonali Singh Parmar rushed to the spot and pacified the situation, discussing with the disgruntled women investors.
Responding to the pressers, the ACP said, "We have dealt with their grievances. They were informed that the accused was forwarded as per the law. The women are insisting for their sums back. However, we will move as per the lawful procedure. We have forwarded the accused as he was found guilty during the investigation."
