New Delhi, October 23: The Supreme Court will hear a petition on October 27 seeking contempt proceedings against advocate Rakesh Kishore, who threw a shoe towards Chief Justice of India (CJI) B R Gavai during court proceedings earlier this month.
The petition, filed by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), is set to be heard by a bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi, as per the cause list uploaded on the Supreme Court's website.
The incident occurred on October 6 when 71-year-old Kishore, in an alarming breach of security, hurled a shoe at the CJI during a courtroom session. In response, the Bar Council of India took swift action, suspending Kishore's license with immediate effect.
