Mumbai, Sept 19: Ahaan Panday and Anaita Poddar-starrer ‘Saiyaara’ has created history by becoming the most-watched non-English film on Netflix worldwide, just five days after its release on the platform.
According to data released by Netflix’s official analytics portal Tudum, ‘Saiyaara’ has garnered 3.7 million views and over 9.3 million watch hours, placing it at the top spot globally among non-English films currently streaming on the platform.
The erotic thriller has overtaken titles such as ‘Fall for Me’, which currently holds the second position with 6.5 million watch hours, and Netflix India original ‘Inspector Jende’, starring Manoj Bajpayee, which stands at number three with 6.2 million watch hours.
Among the top 10 globally trending non-English films, the only other Indian film to feature is Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Kingdom’, which ranks at number nine, with 2.5 million hours of global viewership.
Netflix India confirmed the milestone by sharing a video message from lead actors Ahaan Panday and Anaita Poddar on Wednesday. The film was released on Netflix last Friday.
Despite a series of recent high-budget Indian releases, ‘Saiyaara’ is the only one to break into Netflix’s global Top 3 non-English films, underlining its widespread appeal and strong international reception.
