Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: The Saheed Nagar Durga Puja Samiti has unveiled an impressive and thought-provoking theme for this year’s celebration, blending patriotism and mythology in a truly captivating way. The grand pandal showcases two distinct yet equally striking depictions: one honoring the patriotism of "Operation Sindoor," and the other recreating the iconic Battle of Hastinapur from the Mahabharata, with Lord Krishna and Arjuna in their legendary chariot.
On one side, the pandal honors the nation’s heroes with a tribute to "Operation Sindoor," a military operation that embodies patriotism, courage, and sacrifice. Detailed sculptures and vibrant decorations vividly capture the essence of bravery and valor, celebrating the sacrifices made by soldiers in defense of the nation.
On the other side, visitors are transported to the epic battlefield of Hastinapur, where Lord Krishna guides Arjuna in his chariot before the great battle. This spectacular scene, meticulously crafted, brings to life the historic moment, with Krishna and Arjuna at the center of a dramatic and intricate battlefield setting.
The Saheed Nagar Durga Puja Samiti’s pandal spans an impressive 85 feet by 130 feet and has been designed using eco-friendly materials by artists from West Bengal. General Secretary Sachi Nandan Nayak explained that the aim is to inspire the younger generation with stories of courage, sacrifice, and the enduring pursuit of peace.
Since its inception in 1978 in a temporary shed, the Saheed Nagar Puja has grown into one of the most vibrant Durga Puja celebrations in Bhubaneswar. Committee President Hemant Parida mentioned that visitors will be treated to traditional Odia cuisine as prasad, while food stalls and cultural performances will enhance the festive atmosphere.
The celebration will culminate with a procession of 24 elaborately decorated tableaux, which will gather at the Saheed Nagar pandal before the immersion. "The immersion will be accompanied by traditional drums, continuing our cherished cultural tradition," said Working President Saroj Kumar Patra.
By blending patriotism with artistic expression, the Saheed Nagar Durga Puja promises to be one of the standout events of the festive season in Bhubaneswar.
