Cuttack, Oct 30: A sum of Rs 10 lakh was allegedly looted from a scooter in Cuttack, parked in a residential area on Thrursday.
Miscreants broke open the scooter dickey and decamped with the bag containing the cash.
The incident took place at Itua Korakara village under Napanga panchayat and Tangi Police limit.
The victim, identified as Rabindra Tripathy, lodged a complaint at the Tangi police station regarding the incident.
According to reports, Tripathy came home withdrawing Rs 10 lakh from the State Bank of India, Tangi branch for a land deal. He parked his scooter outside his home and went to open the main gate. Meanwhile, he heard an abnormal sound and noticed that an unidentified youth decamped with the cash.
Following this, he moved police and briefed his ordeals. Based on the complaint, police started an investigation and tried to nab the miscreants.
CCTV footage from the locality is being examined. Blocking and checkings are on to reach at the looters said police.
