A two-day Odissi Music Festival was recently organised at the local Civic Centre by the Jaydev Kala Vikash Kendra, Rourkela, with the aim of preserving and promoting traditional Odissi music, classical compositions, and Jagannath Champu songs dedicated to Lord Govinda.

Rourkela,Mar 16: A two-day Odissi Music Festival was recently organised at the local Civic Centre by the Jaydev Kala Vikash Kendra, Rourkela, with the aim of preserving and promoting traditional Odissi music, classical compositions, and Jagannath Champu songs dedicated to Lord Govinda.

The festival showcased a rich repertoire of Odissi music and dance performances, with several eminent traditional music and dance gurus presenting their art. Over 50 Odissi music gurus and 30 dance gurus were felicitated during the event in recognition of their contribution to preserving Odisha’s cultural heritage.

The organisers said that the platform is intended to serve as a guiding space for aspiring students of traditional music and dance in the coming years, ensuring that Odissi art forms continue to thrive among the next generation.
