The proposed initiative will allow visitors to experience nature after sunset while promoting awareness about biodiversity, conservation and responsible eco-tourism.
According to the proposal, a dedicated area within the Botanical Garden has been identified for the project. Visitors will be able to explore natural landscapes, water bodies and nature-based attractions designed to provide a unique experience after dusk while ensuring that ecologically sensitive areas remain protected.
An official said the project has been conceptualised around the theme “Experience Nature at Night – Learn, Enjoy and Conserve”, with a focus on conservation education and responsible environmental tourism.
The authorities have also initiated the process of engaging a consultant to prepare the development plan and oversee the proposed project.

A senior Nandankanan official said the objective of the initiative is not mass entertainment, but to encourage appreciation of nature and environmental education.
The proposal has generated interest among local residents and regular visitors. Many believe that the initiative could add a new dimension to Bhubaneswar’s tourism landscape.
While visitors generally explore the Botanical Garden during the daytime, an evening and night-time experience could offer a completely different perspective of the natural surroundings. The proposed attraction could also provide a refreshing alternative to conventional entertainment options available in the city.
Environmentalists, however, have stressed that the success of the project will depend on maintaining a careful balance between tourism and conservation.
If planned and implemented responsibly, the initiative could help visitors develop a greater appreciation for protected natural spaces while creating awareness about biodiversity and the need for conservation.
