Rath Yatra: New pricing and guidelines for chariot parts introduced by SJTA

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has unveiled a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) along with a revised price list for the sale of parts from the chariots used in the annual Puri Rath Yatra festival.

Puri, June 10: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has unveiled a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) along with a revised price list for the sale of parts from the chariots used in the annual Puri Rath Yatra festival.

As per the updated SOP, the wheel of Lord Jagannath's Nandighosha chariot will be priced at Rs 3 lakh, while the wheels of Lord Balabhadra's Taladhwaja and Goddess Subhadra's Darpadalana chariots will be available for Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh, respectively. Other parts, such as the Guja and Ansuari, will cost Rs 15,000 each, and the Prabha will be priced at Rs 25,000.

 

Interested buyers are required to submit applications along with a Rs 1,000 fee by September 15. Those selected will need to make the full payment within a week or forfeit their chance to the next applicant in line.

 

This initiative by the SJTA aims to ensure a systematic approach to the sale, enhance transparency, and preserve the sanctity of the sacred items linked to the revered Rath Yatra festival.
