​​​​​​​Ayodhya, July 19: Amid the ongoing controversy over the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has convened a meeting of all its trustees on July 22 at 4 p.m.at Maniram Das Chhawani in Ayodhya.

According to a statement issued on Sunday, the meeting will review the expected final report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the alleged donation theft. The report is likely to be submitted before the meeting.

A separate special meeting of the Trust has also been scheduled for3 p.m.on the same day.

The trustees are also expected to discuss appointing the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Temple Trust. Other agenda items include confirming the minutes of the Trust's July 6 meeting and reorganising various committees in accordance with the Trust's rules.

At its previous meeting on July 6, the Trust accepted the resignations of former General Secretary Champat Rai and former trustee Anil Mishra amid the investigation into alleged irregularities in temple offerings.

Addressing a press conference after that meeting, Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri described the alleged theft of donations as "shameful" and stressed the need for accountability and administrative reforms. He said the incident had deeply hurt both the Trust and devotees of Lord Ram.

Giri had also stated that Champat Rai voluntarily stepped down, saying it would be inappropriate for him to continue in office until those responsible for the alleged theft were identified and punished.

Meanwhile, the investigation has entered a crucial stage, with police intensively questioning the main accused, Ramshankar Yadav alias 'Tinnu', and his nephew Manish Yadav during a 39-hour custody remand.

The duo were taken into police custody around 8 a.m. on Saturday after investigators secured the remand from the court. So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the alleged donation theft case.
