Bhubaneswar, March 29: In an odd turn of events, Rajya Sabha MP from Odisha, Dr. Sasmit Patra resigned from the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communication & IT on Sunday, over derogatory remarks against Late Biju Patnaik.
Patra, who submitted his resignation to the Chairman Rajya Sabha through the Secretary of the Upper House, cited his discontent on the Standing Committee Chairman Nishikant Dubey, over his disrespectful remarks on the stalwart leader.
Sasmit in his resignation letter wrote, “In protest, and as a matter of principle, I am resigning from the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communication & IT under the Chairmanship of Shri Nishikant Dubey. I can’t, in good consciene, continue to serve under someone who makes disrespectful remarks about late Shri Biju Patnaik Ji as he did today in a public statement.”
