Raja Warring Changes X Bio to ‘Former PPCC Chief’ Amid Punjab Congress Reshuffle Buzz

Chandigarh, October 1: Amid growing speculation about a possible change in Punjab Congress leadership, senior Congress leader Amarinder Singh Raja Warring changed his bio on Thursday to describe himself as the “former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president”.

The development came after Warring earlier declined to comment on reports of a possible change in the state party leadership. Asked whether he was likely to resign as Punjab Congress president, Warring said, “I don't want to comment on anything. I will let you know when the time is right.”

When asked about a possible visit to the Congress office in Delhi, he said, “Some matters are internal.”

Amid the speculation, former Punjab PWD Minister and Congress MP Vijay Inder Singla said he remained a “loyal soldier” of the party and asserted that Congress leaders were working together under Warring’s leadership.

Asked if he could be the next Punjab Congress president, Singla said there was no such information to his knowledge. He said he had always fulfilled responsibilities assigned by the party and would continue to do so.

“I am a loyal soldier of the party, and at all times, as a worker of the party, whatever responsibility I have been given, I have always fulfilled my duties. And in the coming times as well, we will work together with everyone in the same manner,” Singla told reporters.

The developments come amid speculation that the Congress high command may consider a change in the Punjab unit leadership ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, following reports of differences within the state unit.

The Congress recently appointed Sachin Pilot as its general secretary in charge of Punjab, replacing former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa met party president Mallikarjun Kharge amid preparations for the upcoming Punjab elections. Randhawa said the party was fully prepared for the polls and would raise issues including extortion, gangsterism, law and order, employment for youth and the state’s economy.

Congress has been facing internal differences in Punjab, with various factions seeking greater prominence ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
