New Delhi, May 5: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, on Monday visited the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in New Delhi to participate in deliberations regarding the appointment of the next Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The meeting focused on selecting a new CBI chief.
The high-level selection committee, which includes the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and the CJI.
Currently, the post is held by Praveen Sood, the former Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka. Sood, a seasoned IPS officer with nearly 37 years of service, has an extensive background in law enforcement, having handled high-profile investigations with national and international implications. He has also served as an advisor to the Government of Mauritius and led several probes related to cybercrime and information technology.
The appointment process for the next CBI Director is expected to conclude soon following the panel’s discussions.
