Puri, Sept 19: Radhastami will be observed at Srimandir in Puri today with a series of traditional rituals. As part of the celebrations, Lord Sudarshan will undertake a Nagar Parikrama and visit four prominent ashrams in Srikshetra.

The special rituals are scheduled to begin after the completion of the Madhyanna Dhupa. A senior priest will bring the Agyan Mala—the ceremonial garland representing the Lord's permission—from Lord Jagannath and offer it to Lord Sudarshan.

The Daitapati servitors will then ceremonially place Lord Sudarshan on a Chau dola located in the Jagamohan. Adorned with traditional ornaments including a gold Harad Mala and Chula, Lord Sudarshan will be taken around the Srimandir premises amid the sound of bells and other traditional musical instruments before proceeding on the Nagar Parikrama.

Accompanied by servitors, Lord Sudarshan will leave Srimandir and visit the temple of Lord Jambeswar. According to temple tradition, Lord Jambeswar Mahadev is believed to present the annual income and expenditure accounts of the Srimandir.

As part of the ritual, a priest representing Lord Jambeswar will ceremonially read out the annual accounts of the Srimandir. The tradition reflects the belief that Lord Jambeswar serves as the custodian of the financial accounts of Lord Jagannath's treasury.

Following the offering of Sitala Bhoga and Prasad, Lord Sudarshan will return to Srimandir.

According to the longstanding tradition of Srimandir, the annual financial accounts are presented to Lord Jagannath on this occasion. Lord Sudarshan, regarded as a representative of Lord Jagannath, performs this traditional responsibility on His behalf.
