Puri, Sept 29: A khaja preparation unit near Kakudikhai Chhak, close to the Jagannath Temple in Puri, was raided by police on today morning over alleged unhygienic food preparation practices.

The raid was conducted under the leadership of City DSP Rashmiranjan Mahapatra after police received information about the preparation of khaja under unhygienic conditions.

The latest action comes days after allegations surfaced regarding the adulteration of khaja being sold in Puri. Following the complaints, the Puri administration and Food Safety Unit had launched an enforcement drive across the city.

During earlier raids, several teams conducted inspections at khaja shops and preparation units, where adulterated khaja was reportedly seized. Officials had also found khaja being fried in used and poor-quality cooking oil. Large quantities of khaja were seized during the operation, and fines were imposed on several shopkeepers.

Now, with concerns over food safety persisting, police and Food Safety officials have once again intensified inspections across Puri. Simultaneous raids are being conducted at several khaja preparation units and warehouses in the city.
