Renault brings powerful 100bhp engine to new Triber MPV
French carmaker Renault has officially introduced its much-anticipated Triber Turbo variant to the Indian market. Priced between Rs 7.84 lakh and Rs 8.99 lakh ex-showroom, this seven-seat MPV now features a punchy 100bhp turbo-petrol powertrain. Buyers can choose from three distinct variants, namely Evolution, Techno, and Emotion. Customers wanting a dual-tone exterior finish must pay an extra Rs 21,000. Renault has consistently focused on delivering affordable multi-utility vehicles tailored for large Indian families, and this latest launch strengthens that strategy.
Engine upgrades and performance
Under the hood, this new vehicle packs Renault’s 1.0-litre, three-cylinder HR10 turbo-petrol engine. Engineers have specially tuned this motor to generate 180Nm of torque. This calibration gives it a clear advantage in pulling power compared to similar engines found in the Kiger and Duster. Consequently, the MPV sprints from 0 to 100kmph in just 10.8 seconds. Buyers currently get a five-speed manual gearbox, though an automatic CVT option should arrive shortly.
Familiar design with modern feel
Designers kept external changes subtle but effective. External updates include a gloss-black grille, LED headlamps, and 15-inch dual-tone wheel covers. A clear TURBO badge rests on the tailgate to distinguish this model. Inside the cabin, passengers enjoy the familiar seven-seat arrangement. Tech features remain strong, offering an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone integration, a digital instrument cluster, and automatic climate control. Folding down the third row frees up an impressive 625 litres of cargo space.
Focus On Passenger Safety
Renault prioritises occupant protection with an extensive safety package. Standard equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability program, and hill-start assist. Systems like traction control and anti-lock brakes received special recalibration to handle the increased engine output smoothly. This model utilizes the robust RGEP platform, which previously secured a four-star safety rating from Global NCAP.
