Bolangir, Ap 21: Bolangir district is gearing up for the famous Sitala Sasthi Festival, which attracts devotees from across the state and beyond. Traditional celebrations are set to enliven the town once again.

The first phase of preparations began with the ceremonial “Thala Utha” program, organized by various longstanding committees including Radharani Pada, Leles Line, Kansari Pada, and other local groups.

This festival celebrates the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, and families carefully select brides and grooms for symbolic rituals, conducted with great pomp and devotion. The preparations involve both parents of the symbolic bride and groom, ensuring that the traditional customs are followed meticulously.

Starting from Akshaya Tritiya, families from each committee will begin preparations to make their respective festival processions spectacular. The event promises a vibrant display of culture, devotion, and community participation throughout Bolangir.
