Prameya impact: CMO seeks report on Angul man’s long Aadhaar battle

Angul, August 24: After ‘Prameya’ highlighted the 13-year-long struggle of Chhendipada resident Jashobanta Sahu to get his name corrected on his Aadhaar card, the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office has sought an action-taken report on the matter.

The CMO has directed the Angul Additional District Magistrate (ADM) and the Chhendipada Block Development Officer (BDO) to submit a detailed report by Monday.

Jashobanta Sahu, a resident of Ugi village under Chhendipada block, has been facing the ordeal since 2013, when his name was incorrectly recorded on his Aadhaar card as Nihar Ranjan Pradhan.

Despite repeated efforts and several trips between Chhendipada and Bhubaneswar, the error has not yet been rectified. The delay has reportedly deprived him of essential government welfare benefits, including access to ration and other services.

The CMO has sought details regarding the current status of Yashobanta’s Aadhaar correction application and the reasons for the prolonged delay.

Chhendipada BDO Aravind Behera said a comprehensive report outlining the status of the application and the reasons behind the failure to make the correction would be submitted to the Chief Minister’s Office by Monday.
