Mumbai, Mar 25: Sometimes, a single photograph can bring back a flood of cherished memories. Veteran actress Poonam Dhillon experienced this when she shared a nostalgic throwback picture, reminiscing about friends she has lost over the years.
On Wednesday, Poonam took to her Instagram Story to post a heartfelt image from a past birthday celebration of the late music composer Aadesh Srivastava. The photo features notable figures from the film industry, including Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, and others, all gathered together for what seems to be an evening full of joy.
In her caption, Poonam reflected on the memories of her dear friends Aadesh Srivastava, Rishi Kapoor, and Rajiv Kapoor who are no longer with us. "Memories of my dear friend Aadesh's birthday. Miss you, my friends Aadesh, Chintu ji & Chimpu," she wrote.
Aadesh Srivastava passed away in 2015 after a long battle with cancer, while Rishi Kapoor, affectionately known as "Chintu", left the world on April 30, 2020, after a two-year struggle with leukemia. Rajiv Kapoor, his younger brother, also passed away on January 9, 2021, following a heart attack at the age of 58.
Poonam Dhillon shared a special bond with Rishi Kapoor, with whom she starred in several popular films in the 1980s, including Zamana, Biwi O Biwi, Ek Chadar Maili Si, and Yeh Vaada Raha. The two were one of the most adored on-screen pairs of that era.
Reflecting on her time working with Rishi, Poonam had previously spoken to ANI about the magic he brought to his performances, especially his songs. She fondly recalled how Rishi, despite the sadness in a song, would often sing it with a smile—a rare ability that set him apart. “I’ve learned a lot from him. I think Rishi Kapoor was probably the only actor who could sing a sad song with a smile. Later, when I watched many Raj Kapoor films, I realized that Raj uncle also used to lip-sync sad songs in a similar way, yet with a smile on his face,” Poonam shared, highlighting the unique charm of the Kapoor legacy.
