Berhampur, Sept 30: A major scam related to police recruitment has come to light, with Berhampur police busting a well-organized racket allegedly involved in leaking question papers ahead of the examination. Acting on a tip-off, the police detained 120 candidates from Andhra Pradesh late last night, foiling what appears to be a large-scale conspiracy.

According to reliable sources, the candidates were being transported in three buses to Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, where they were allegedly supposed to receive the question paper along with the answers. The plan involved intensive practice sessions before the candidates were to be brought back and dropped at their respective examination centres.

Investigators have revealed that a hefty sum of money was collected from each candidate as part of the operation. However, before the buses could reach their destination, police intercepted them and took all individuals into custody for questioning.

Initial findings point to the involvement of a key mastermind, with links to a notorious habitual offender from Ganjam district. Further investigation is underway to trace the full extent of the network and identify all those involved in the racket.
