
Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: In an unprecedented incident, a police officer was martyred in Bhubaneswar on Sunday while saving some tourists from wild boars.
The shocking incident occurred at Barunei in Khordha district on Sunday evening.
According to reports, at least five tourists had undertaken trekking the Barunei hill. Meanwhile, they were attacked by a herd of wild boars. However, with a narrow escape they climbed up in a tree and alerted fire services to rescue them, seeing the fierce animals around the tree.
Upon receiving information, teams from the Fire Services, Forest, and cops rushed to the spot, carried out an operation and rescued the stranded youths. However, a police officer reportedly from the OSAP, went missing while dispersing the wild boars away. Subsequently, his body was recovered from the forest in a pool of blood.
The body of the deceased police officer was sent for post-mortem.
A pall of gloom descended in the area following the tragic death of the savior police officer.
