New Delhi, May 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged newly recruited government employees to serve with dedication, sensitivity, and strong work ethics, asking them to embrace the spirit of a lifelong “Karmayogi” while discharging their duties.
Addressing the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela, the Prime Minister said government service is fundamentally aimed at making life easier for citizens and stressed that the real strength of any system lies in its people.
“Government jobs are meant to simplify the lives of ordinary citizens. Whatever department you work in, your conduct, sensitivity, and work ethic will play a vital role. Every young ‘Karmayogi’ should consider their work as a continuous journey,” PM Modi said.
Highlighting the importance of continuous learning in public service, the Prime Minister encouraged the newly appointed personnel to make full use of the ‘iGOT Karmayogi’ digital platform. He said training modules such as ‘Karmayogi Prarambh’ would help recruits better understand their responsibilities and implement citizen-centric policies more effectively.
“India’s aspirations are growing rapidly, and this is a positive sign of development. We must understand the expectations of the people and work with equal speed to fulfil them. In such a scenario, the role of young professionals entering public service becomes extremely important,” he said.
PM Modi also underlined the role of infrastructure development in accelerating economic growth and employment generation across the country. He noted that the rapid expansion of railways, highways, airports, ports, logistics networks, and digital infrastructure over the past 12 years has transformed even remote regions of the country.
“Infrastructure has played a major role in India’s growth story and job creation. Development reaches more people only when villages, small towns, and remote areas are connected,” he said.
The Prime Minister said improved connectivity and access to electricity have significantly enhanced economic opportunities in rural areas. Better roads have eased transportation to markets, while reliable power supply has boosted the growth of small industries and enabled value addition in agriculture.
He further said digital connectivity has connected villages with the global economy, gradually narrowing the gap between urban and rural India.
“As digital connectivity has increased, people in villages are now connected to the entire world. The divide between cities and villages is shrinking, which has accelerated economic growth and created a brighter future for the youth of the country,” PM Modi added.
