Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, July 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday welcomed the Union Cabinet's approval of two major railway multitracking projects, including the doubling of the Paradeep-Haridaspur railway line, saying the initiatives will significantly strengthen connectivity and drive economic growth in Odisha.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister described the projects as a "major boost" for Odisha and neighbouring Jharkhand, highlighting their role in expanding rail infrastructure, easing congestion and promoting tourism.
"A major boost to connectivity and economic growth in Odisha and Jharkhand! The Cabinet has approved two important railway multitracking projects, the doubling of the Paradeep-Haridaspur line and the fourth line between Rajkharsawan and Dangoaposi. These projects will further growth in Odisha and Jharkhand. They will expand the railway network, ease congestion and boost tourism," PM Modi said.
The Union Cabinet approved the doubling of the Paradeep-Haridaspur railway line, a strategically important corridor that connects Paradip Port with the state's rail network. The project is expected to enhance freight movement, improve logistics efficiency and support the transportation needs of industries operating in and around the port, one of the country's busiest major ports.
The Cabinet also approved the construction of a fourth railway line between Rajkharsawan and Dangoaposi. The additional line is aimed at increasing rail capacity, improving operational efficiency and ensuring smoother movement of passenger and freight trains.
