New Delhi, Aug 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
Describing the holy scripture as a timeless source of guidance and inspiration, PM Modi took to his official ‘X’ handle and wrote, “Warm greetings on the sacred occasion of the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The timeless teachings of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji continue to illuminate lives across the world, reminding us of the values of compassion, humility and service.”
“The teachings inspire humanity to strengthen the spirit of unity and harmony. May we always walk the path of wisdom shown by the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and strive to build a better planet,” he added.
Prakash Parv is celebrated in honor and remembrance of Guru Granth Sahib. On this day, Sikhs worldwide exchange greetings and renew their commitment to following the teachings and path of Guru Granth Sahib.
Gurdwaras across India and the globe are adorned with stunning lights and decorations. A ‘Langar’ is held in every gurdwara, and Sikhs participate in community service. In some areas, the ‘Nagar Prabhat Pheri’ is organized, where Sikhs come together with great enthusiasm and devotion.
During Prakash Parv, Ardas is recited, and prayers are offered at the Gurdwaras. Special bhajan-kirtans are also performed as part of the celebrations.
