Petrol, Diesel & LPG supplies in Odisha remain normal and stable: IOCL

Bhubaneswar, April 21: In view of the prevailing geopolitical developments influencing global energy markets, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has reaffirmed that the supply of LPG, petrol and diesel across Odisha remains normal and stable. The situation is being closely monitored on a continuous basis to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential fuels throughout the State.

The IOCL said that domestic LPG supplies are being maintained smoothly through its extensive distributor network, while petrol and diesel are being supplied seamlessly through retail outlets across Odisha. Movement of petroleum products from supply locations to distributors and retail outlets is proceeding without disruption, and the overall supply chain continues to function efficiently.

Adequate LPG stocks are available across the State. The current delivery backlog stands at approximately 5-6 days, which is within manageable limits. Measures have been put in place to prevent any artificial shortages, including the widespread adoption of digital booking systems, which account for nearly 95 per cent of bookings, and OTP-based delivery authentication covering around 85 per cent of deliveries, thereby ensuring that supplies reach genuine consumers.

To discourage panic booking, a minimum interval of 25 days between successive LPG bookings has been enforced in urban areas. Biometric authentication is also being undertaken in mission mode, with over 60 per cent of consumers already authenticated. In addition, stringent Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are being implemented to prevent diversion, while Oil Marketing Company (OMC) officials are conducting regular inspections. More than 600 inspections of LPG distributorships have been carried out during April 2026 alone.

All retail outlets of Indian Oil across Odisha are adequately stocked and are dispensing petrol and diesel in line with normal demand patterns. There is no shortage of fuels in the State. Consumers have been advised not to resort to panic buying or unnecessary stocking.

It has also been noted that certain concerns and unverified messages are being circulated on social media in the context of the current global situation. Indian Oil Corporation Limited is promptly addressing genuine public concerns and is disseminating accurate updates through official communication channels for the benefit of consumers.

The Corporation is working in close coordination with the State Government and district administrations to curb malpractices, prevent hoarding, and ensure equitable fuel availability across both urban and remote regions of Odisha.

Consumers are urged to remain calm, refrain from panic purchases, and rely solely on official sources for authentic information.

Indian Oil Corporation Limited has reiterated its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted and seamless availability of LPG, petrol and diesel to all consumers in Odisha.
