Kendrapara, August 19: While the death of the college girl in Pattamundai was shrouded with mystery, the Kendrapara SP on Monday unveiled the curtain of suspicion from the incident.
Kendrapara SP Siddharth Kataria said, the death of the college girl was due to self-immolation. It was never an honor-killing or any foul play stemmed from domestic violence. The case has been confirmed as a suicide from the scientific examinations and post-mortem report.
Citing the post-mortem report and forensic investigations, the SP said that the girl charred herself to death due to mental harassment by her boyfriend.
The reports confirmed that the girl died after being burned alive. It alos indicates that she poured petrol on herself and set herself on fire, in a bid to commit suicide.
The post-mortem report clearly mentions that the cause of the girl’s death is ante-mortem burn injuries.The reports thus indicate, she had critical burn injury before she succumbed to it.
Apart from it, scientific analysis also revealed that she had accumulated carbon particles in the respiratory tract much before her death. It confirms that the victim was alive when the flames spread out in the room.
