Bhubaneswar, May 21: The panchayat by-elections in Odisha will be held on June 23, announced the State Election Commission.

As per the notification issued in this regard, the upcoming panchayat by-elections will be conducted to elect 43 Sarpanch and 272 ward members across Odisha.

The official process will commence with the issuance of notices at the block, panchayat, and ward levels on May 22 at 10 AM. 

As per the schedule, candidates can submit their nomination papers on May 26, 28, 29, 30, and 31, between 11 AM and 3 PM.

Candidates contesting for sarpanch positions are required to submit their nominations at the block office, while those running for ward member posts must file their nominations at the respective panchayat offices.

Nomination papers will be scrutinized on June 2, followed by the publication of the list of valid candidates. Candidates may withdraw their nominations until June 4, by 3 PM. The final list of contesting candidates will be displayed at the respective panchayat offices.

Voting is scheduled for June 23 from 7 AM to 1 PM at designated polling stations. 

Meanwhile, the counting of votes will be done on June 24, beginning at 8 AM in the respective block offices.
