Reckless Pakistani naval maneuvers cause collision with Indian warship

Indian naval officials reported a troubling collision involving a Pakistan Navy vessel in the North Arabian Sea on Tuesday evening. Government sources state that the Pakistani ship approached an Indian warship at an unusually high speed and executed highly dangerous maneuvers. This reckless action resulted in a physical strike in international waters while the Indian vessel carried out a standard surveillance mission. Navigating these shared maritime zones remains a sensitive task, as both nations frequently monitor regional waters to protect strategic interests and maintain regional stability.
Officials firmly described the Pakistani vessel's navigation as entirely unprofessional and unsafe. Fortunately, the direct hit did not cause any major damage or casualties on either side. However, the aggressive posturing triggered an immediate response from the government. Authorities in New Delhi summoned Pakistan’s top diplomatic representative on Wednesday morning to formally address the situation.

Representatives from the Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that this maritime clash violated deeply established bilateral rules. They noted the Pakistani ship's conduct directly opposed Article 10 of the April 1991 agreement regarding advance notice on military exercises, maneuvers, and troop movements. Indian diplomats strongly advised the Pakistani Charge d’Affaires to communicate this severe lapse to their military leaders. They demanded that all naval units exercise due care and respect mutual provisions to stop similar events from happening again. To ensure complete clarity, the government also instructed the Indian Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad to file a corresponding protest with the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
