Balasore, April 26: A three-member team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday visited Isani village in Balasore district, Odisha, to meet the family of Prashant Satpathy, who lost his life in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
The deadly attack, which occurred on April 22, targeted the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam, claiming 28 lives, including two foreign nationals. Initially, 26 people were reported dead, but two more succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, raising the final toll.
In the wake of the attack, the central government and security forces were placed on high alert, and the investigation was promptly handed over to the NIA to determine how such a breach could happen despite heightened security in the region.
As part of their probe, the NIA team reached Prashant Satpathy’s native village to gather further information. The officers interacted with his wife and children, seeking details that could assist in their ongoing investigation into the terror strike.
Satpathy’s death has brought the national tragedy closer to home for Odisha, prompting a wave of mourning in his village and beyond.
