Bhubaneswar, March 23: As many as 4,107 Medical Officer posts are lying vacant in the State against the sanctioned strength of 15,793. The Odisha Assembly was informed on Monday.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling informed the State Assembly that currently as many as 11,186 Medical Officers are working in the State while the sanctioned positions stand at 15,793.
The Minister said that 18,945 Nursing Officer posts are lying vacant in the State while posts of 2,644 Pharmacy Officers, 1283 Library Technicians, 602 Radiographer and 438 Ophthalmic Officer are unfilled.
“After the new Government came to power, the Health and Family Welfare Department has appointed 108 Assistant Professors, five allopathic doctors, 85 Homeopathic doctors and 115 Ayush doctors through the Odisha Public Service Commission,” said the Minister.
Further, 117 Nursing Officers, 239 Radiographers, 203 Pharmacy officers, 2,753 MPHWF (F) and 686 MPHW (M) have also been appointed through OPSC after the new Government was formed in the State, said the Minister.
