
Bhubaneswar, Sept 18: Opposition BJD and Congress are gearing up to target the state government over key issues, including the ongoing fertiliser crisis affecting farmers and the increasing cases of atrocities against women in the state as the Monsoon Session of Odisha Assembly is all set to today.
As per reports, the session will start with obituary references on September 18. On September 19, the House will address Private Members’ Bills, followed by five official business days from September 20 to 25.
Earlier on September 16, an all-party meeting was held ahead of the Monsoon Session, where Opposition parties pledged their support for the smooth functioning of the Assembly.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, senior BJD leader and party whip Pramila Mallik, Congress CLP leader Rama Chandra Kadam, and other key leaders.
Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police has implemented extensive security measures to ensure smooth and safe proceedings.
As per reports, a three-tier security system will be in place, with 30 platoons of police deployed to maintain law and order throughout the session.
