Rourkela, Sept 19: Operation Anweshan has achieved a major breakthrough, with the Rourkela Police rescuing two minor Odia girls from Uttar Pradesh.

A number of children from Odisha reportedly travel to different states for work, while some also go missing, raising serious concerns over their safety and well-being. To trace and rescue missing and vulnerable children, the Odisha Police launched Operation Anweshan.

The Rourkela Police have now joined the initiative. Under the supervision of Western Range DIG Brijesh Rai, two special teams were formed through a joint effort involving the police and the Women and Child Welfare Department.

As part of the operation, the teams travelled to Uttar Pradesh and successfully rescued two minor girls. The rescued girls are from Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts of Odisha.

Following their rescue, the two girls were reunited with and handed over to their respective families.

Western Range DIG Brijesh Rai said that Operation Anweshan will continue in the days ahead, with efforts to trace and rescue other missing and vulnerable children from Odisha.
