Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: A one-month-old baby boy was rescued from a parked auto-rickshaw in the Patia area under Chandrasekharpur police limits on Tuesday morning, after locals alerted the authorities on hearing the infant’s cries.
According to reports, residents of a nearby apartment building heard a baby crying from an unattended auto-rickshaw. Suspecting something unusual, they immediately informed the police.
A team from Chandrasekharpur police station rushed to the spot and found the infant inside the vehicle. The baby, estimated to be between one and one-and-a-half months old, was safely rescued and handed over to Childline for care and protection. Officials confirmed that the infant appeared to be in stable condition.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine how the infant was left in the auto-rickshaw and to trace his parents or guardians.
