Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said Operation Sindoor stood as a strong and decisive response to terrorism, reaffirming India’s commitment to national security as the operation completed one year. In a post on X, the Prime Minister praised the courage, precision and professionalism of the Indian armed forces, saying they delivered a fitting reply to those responsible for the terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.

“A year ago, our armed forces displayed unparalleled courage, precision and resolve during Operation Sindoor. They gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam. The entire nation salutes our forces for their valour,” PM Modi wrote.

He said the operation reflected India’s firm stance against terrorism and its unwavering resolve to protect the country’s security. The Prime Minister also highlighted the growing jointness among the Army, Air Force and Navy, along with the role of self-reliance in strengthening India’s defence capability. At the same time, PM Modi changed his display picture on X to “Operation Sindoor” as a tribute to the armed forces on the anniversary of the military operation.

Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025, came in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack and was described as a calibrated tri-services response aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan.

According to official details, intelligence inputs identified nine major terror camps that were later targeted in the operation. The action was carried out with careful planning and an intelligence-led approach, with efforts made to keep collateral damage to a minimum.

In the days that followed, Pakistan launched drone and UCAV attacks targeting Indian airbases and logistics infrastructure. However, these were effectively neutralised by India’s layered air defence network, supported by real-time coordination systems and integrated command structures.

The operation also showcased strong synergy between the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy and the Border Security Force. From precision strikes and air defence operations to maritime deterrence and border security, Indian forces worked in close coordination to ensure national security and protect critical infrastructure.
