Srinagar, May 10: Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah welcomed the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, saying lives could have been saved had it happened earlier.
Omar urged the current J&K administration to expedite relief and medical support for affected civilians and assess damage caused by recent cross-border violence. He also hoped for the reopening of the Srinagar airport.
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that both DGMOs agreed to cease all military action from 5 PM IST, with further talks set for May 12. He stressed India’s measured response to provocations.
EAM S. Jaishankar reiterated India's firm stance against terrorism.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that both nations have agreed to hold broader talks at a neutral venue.
