Bhubaneswar, Ap 4: Odisha-born film producer Solila Parida, who made outstanding contributions to Bollywood as well as Hollywood films, passed away at the age of 85 at her Bhubaneswar residence.
Her career began as an artist at All India Radio, eventually performing globally, including a prestigious appearance at London’s Royal Albert Hall.
Her passion later led to film production, creating a lasting impression with pictures such as Vishkanya and Hollywood indie winner Desires of the Heart.
Inspired and motivated by the legends of Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar, Solila continued to direct films that reflected her commitment to storytelling and individual vision.
Her work earned her the highly esteemed Hind Rattan Award and Odisha Living Legend Award, solidifying her position in the history of India's cinema.
Solila was also the sister of Admiral S.H. Sarma, a war veteran of 1971 and a decorated one, a reflection of her family's tradition of excellence.
Her last voyage will start from Navy House, Bhubaneswar, to Puri Swargadwar on 4th April 2025, where she will be cremated. Solila Parida's legacy in the film industry will motivate future generations.
