Khurda, Aug 11: In a tragic incident, a woman was charred to death after her clothes caught fire while performing puja at her home in Jatni block of Odisha’s Khordha district.
The deceased woman has been identified as Rina Pradhan and the incident has been reported from Rathipur village under Jatni block.
According to reports, Rina, who had been struggling with her mental health after the loss of her son a few months ago, was performing puja at her home on Sunday morning when her clothes caught fire as she lit a lamp.
She suffered severe burns and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where the attending doctors pronounced her dead.
Upon getting the information, Jatni police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Later, the body was sent for post-mortem.
A pal of gloom descended over the village following the tragic demise of the woman.
