Odisha Vigilance raids properties in Tripura and Himachal linked to IAS Officer Dhiman Chakma

Bhubaneswar, June 18: In a significant development in the ongoing corruption probe, Odisha Vigilance has dispatched three teams to Tripura and Himachal Pradesh to conduct raids at multiple locations linked to Sri Dhiman Chakma, IAS (2021 batch), Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh in Kalahandi district.
Acting on search warrants issued by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, the teams are carrying out searches at Chakma’s residence in Kanchanpur, North Tripura, and at his in-laws’ properties located in Saminala (PS-Manali), District Kullu, and Rangbey (PS-Keylong), District Lahaul-Spiti, Himachal Pradesh.
The intensified action follows Chakma’s arrest on June 9, 2025, in a trap laid by Vigilance officials. He is accused of demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh from a local businessman. The case is registered under Vigilance Cell PS Case No. 6, dated June 3, 2025, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
During the ongoing searches, Vigilance teams are scrutinizing documents related to bank deposits, investments, and other financial instruments. Investigators are also verifying details of movable and immovable assets to assess whether Chakma has amassed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Odisha Vigilance officials confirmed that the raids are still in progress, and further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
